Mountain Pine Road house was ‘major nuisance’

According to arrest records, seven suspects were arrested after a raid on Mountain Pine Road on Friday by the local Drug Task Force and other area law enforcement authorities.

Six of the seven were charged simultaneously with drug possession and firearms trafficking and each of these offenses can result in up to a life sentence in prison.

Jordan Barrett Stiles (30) and Kaylea Kristan Childs (29), listed 664 Mountain Pine Road respectively. Christopher Blake Catlett (30) lists an Edwards Place Address. Kaleb Lamar Matts (23), lists Ewing Street addresses. Jason Paul Cozad (43) lists a Richard Street Address. Patience Michelle Ann (191) lists a Benton address.

Trent Daniels, the acting commander of the 18th Judicial District East Drug Task Force (DTF), stated that investigators had identified Stiles Matthews and Catlett, the main distributors of meth in the area, and that investigators had made numerous purchases from them.

Stiles was also accused of engaging in a continuing crime gang, organization, or enterprise. Stiles could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison. Daniels pointed out that Stiles was arrested at the same address at 664 Mountain Pine Road in 2013. He was also legally banned from the property. The residence was boarded.

Stiles was said to be the one who set up the purchases, but he would often use Matthews and Catlett to complete the transactions. He explained that there are people on the property with guns and selling drugs who aren’t supposed to have them. It was a major nuisance for the community.

Stiles, Catlett, and Childs were previously convicted felons and were charged with possession firearms by certain people, which can be punishable with six to twenty years in prison. All six were also accused with unauthorized use or facilitation of a crime by another person, which can be punishable up to 20 year, and maintaining drug premises, which can be punishable up to 10 year.

Other charges include possession of meth with the intent to deliver, which can be punished by up to 20 year imprisonment, and multiple other charges that are based on specific drugs. You could also be charged with distributing controlled substances in close proximity to certain facilities. This could increase your sentence by 10 years.

Marty Ray Rowland (42), a suspect in the case, was also arrested on the spot. He lists “city streets”, and was charged with furnishing prohibited items, which can be punished by up to 20 year imprisonment, as well as possession of controlled substances, which can be punishable up to six years. However, he also had an arrest warrant for a parole violation.

Two more females were found at the home and taken into custody. One of the females was taken into custody on a misdemeanor fail to appear warrant, while the other was cited with possession of drug paraphernalia. She was later released.

Stiles, Catlett, and Matthews were each being held under $600,000. Childs, Clinton and Cozad were each being held under $500,000 bonds. Rowland was each being held under $500,000 bond.

According to the probable reason affidavit obtained Monday, just after 6:05 a.m., DTF investigators, Garland County Tactical Response Team agents and sheriff’s officers, as well as the Hot Springs Police Department Special Investigations Unit, executed a search warrant for narcotics at the Mountain Pine Road home. The search warrant was issued after multiple sales of meth from the Mountain Pine Road address.

TRT made contact with all nine of the occupants and gained entry to the house through the front doors. Once they had been secured and taken into custody, a search of this residence began.

Investigators discovered 36 baggies totaling 116.7 grams or more than 4 ounces of methamphetamine. They also found a bag containing 7.7 grams of psilocybin (psychedelic mushrooms); a bag containing 4.2 grams suspected fentanyl. The state crime lab was also sent three vials containing 68.5 grams propionate and three pills containing alprazolam. There were also 2.3 grams of an unidentified substance.

Investigators also found $1,595 cash, several empty bags, digital scales and a Mossberg bolt action rifle, a Glock 19 pistol loaded with a 30-round mag, seven cellphones, and three smoking pipes.

According to the affidavit, Rowland was alleged to have meth in his possession, while Stiles was allegedly in possession of meth and marijuana when they were arrested at the jail. This led to additional charges.

The occupants were again barred from the property by a civil suit.
