News: Ministry to rebuild more than 70 war-damaged schools in Amhara and Afar regions

Addis Abeba – Ministry of Training (MoE) has introduced that it’s going to rebuild 71 normal colleges utilizing monetary help from World Financial institution (WB), Menschen für Menschen charity group and the Ethiopian Diaspora Belief Fund (DTF) within the Amhara and Afar areas, which have been demolished throughout the bloody struggle that lasted for almost two years between Tigrayan forces and the federal authorities.

Based on the Ministry, the ministry has formally launched the work of 71 normal colleges destroyed within the struggle as a part of its plan to enhance the standard of training within the nation.

In his remarks within the official launching program, Professor Berhanu Nega, Minister of Training, mentioned that the faculties will likely be constructed with a regular and put in with the mandatory infrastructure.

The ministry mentioned that, 50 of the faculties will likely be constructed with the help and cooperation of the WB, whereas the 16 of them will likely be constructed by the Menschen für Menschen group whereas the opposite 5 will likely be constructed by the DTF.

The minister mentioned related works will proceed in probably the most affected Tigray Area after conducting assessments.

In December, 2022, a report by the UN’s world fund for training in emergencies, Training Can’t Wait (ECW), revealed that over 8,700 colleges have been partially or severely broken attributable to conflicts and climate-related disaster in Ethiopia forcing 3.6 million youngsters out of college.
