Women Entrepreneurs Who Are Making a Mark In The Hospitality Industry


The hospitality industry is one of the industries that has been dominated by men for many decades.  The industry has been dominated by men for decades, but the situation is changing. Women are making a name for themselves in the restaurant industry, unlike other industries. This women’s entrepreneurship day, we would like to acknowledge some great women who are doing a remarkable job in their field.

Manjari Sing, co-founder of The Chhaunk

Manjari Singh, co-founder of The Chhaunk is a cloud kitchen startup that offers Bihari cuisine. After completing her B.com degree from Delhi University, Manjari Singh started her own company with brand Favola. Favola caters to kitchen and home items. With 10 years of business experience and successfully running Favola and one multi-cuisine restaurant Dacha Social (Goa), she has launched her cloud kitchen project – The Chhaunk. Singh, a woman entrepreneur, started The Chhaunk with her Saas Hiranyamayi Shivani in 2021. We believe it is difficult to work with saas in India. However, this Saas-Bahu team has opened 7+ restaurants that offer Bihari cuisine within a year. A great relationship is essential when running a business. This team makes for an excellent saasbahu team.

Karyna Bjaj, Executive Director at KA Hospitality

Karyna Bajaj focuses on the rebuilding and commercial plan of the group. Bajaj joined the company in July 2016 and has been crucial in improving Indian consumers’ perceptions of the Hakkasan and Yauatcha brands. Bajaj, along with her team, began to research the industry in September 2016. They were looking for another popular restaurant brand to supply Indian burger shops that offer fresh and diverse flavours. In the second half 2017 KA Hospitality opened the Nara restaurant. The Nara Café emphasises the vibrant perfection of sufficiently aged Thai cuisine and the warmth of Thai hospitality to Indian burger establishments. Her desire in learning more and her bachelor’s degree in communication and business strategy are creating a new dynamic inside the hospitality group. Her most recent endeavour, CinCin, is a first for both her and KA Hospitality’s focus on regional brands. It is an Italian-inspired café and bar located in the bustling BKC neighbourhood close to Nara. Unique concept offering a large selection of wines by glass, Cicchettis (small appetizers), a pasta bar and all things Italian.

Pallavi Jayswal, Uno Más Tapas Bar Kitchen

Pallavi, the chef and co-founder of Uno Más -Tapas Bar Kitchen, gained experience under many well-known chefs before launching her own business. She also founded Nessun Dorma Food Ventures. She has worked in Thalassa, Indigo Restaurant and many other prestigious Indian restaurants. She holds a Diplôme de Cuisine from the renowned Le Cordon Bleu, London.

Dip in Brilliant founder Dipna Aand

Dipna, an award-winning celebrity chef, owns Dip in Brilliant. She also shares co-ownership of London’s Southall-based Brilliant Restaurant. In Nairobi, Kenya, her granddad opened the original Brilliant café in the 1950s. Dipna began her teaching career as a tourist chef after receiving her certification in Hospitality and Catering at The University of West London. Dipna also teaches Indian cooking at The Brilliant Restaurant. Anand says, “My career took off when I received a public award on one of my culinary innovation initiatives, Low Fat Indian Food, introduced by the British Nutrition Foundation.”

Vidushi Sharma, Truffle & co.

Vidushi was trained by top chefs around the globe and has mastered French pastries. Vidushi’s work is impressive as she uses a variety of ingredients and creates unique flavour combinations. In 2019, she came up with the idea for Truffle & Co., where she makes distinctive, handmade hand-rolled truffles to suit various palates.
